We cannot comprehend or perceive the passage of time without reference to objects and events.
Time can be about everyday existence. It can be about the past, history, or war. It might also be about us yesterday, today, or in an imagined tomorrow.
While we hold the camera to capture the moment, we lose the moment as it passes – we are in a prism.
In search of lost time searching
What photographers look for at the moment the shutter opens, they also lose to the photo themselves; they deprive and be deprived; the photographers deprive things to put in pictures while simultaneously being deprived of the opportunity to see things as they are.
Susan Sontag wrote, “The force of a photograph is that it keeps open to scrutiny instants which the normal flow of time immediately replaces.”
In this exhibition, ten local and foreign photographers of various generations present their perspectives and dialogues about time in a series of photos. It is not only about experiences, dreams, memories, or other realities. It’s also the time the photographers have been deprived of when immersed in photography and capturing moments.
