At the moment my mother passed away, I was not by her side—but it already happened. “For what I have lost is not a figure (the Mother), but a being; and not a being, but a quality (a soul): not the indispensable, but the irreplaceable,” as Roland Barthes wrote.

Fading Memories is a photo book that connects present and the past, as a Father and son experience the loss of the woman they both love. It seems that the void left by the wife and the Mother seems too vast to be filled with love. Yet silently and quietly, though each person follows a different path to healing, the wound has—over the years—healed. But this scar does not fade.
